HDPE Pipe

Can PRNZ recover it? Yes. PRNZ accepts HDPE pipe, conduit, and culverts for recycling.

Why? HDPE is a durable plastic commonly used in water, irrigation, drainage and infrastructure projects. Recycling helps keep valuable plastic in circulation and out of landfill.

How should I prepare it for recycling?

  • Remove any metal components.
  • Remove rubber seals and gaskets.
  • Remove attached fittings where possible.
  • Shake out dirt, stones and debris.
  • Keep HDPE separate from other plastic types.

What happens next? The material is processed and recycled into new plastic products used throughout New Zealand.

Top Tip - If the pipe is heavily contaminated with soil, concrete or other materials, clean it first to improve recycling outcomes.
